COUN-53: College and Life Management (3 units)

This course is designed for first-year college students to prepare them for college life and academic success. Topics will include student success strategies, personal growth and development, campus resources, and academic goal development.

COUN-120: College Introduction (1 unit)

*Available as a tuition-free noncredit option, titled COUN-320

New students! With this course, you will familiarize yourself with Reedley College’s programs and resources, plan for success, learn about time management and educational planning!

  • Offered over the summer, to help students prepare for
    their first semester
  • Available as credit and noncredit
  • Hybrid offerings that allow students to become
    familiar with the Reedley College campus and online
    resources concurrently

COUN-34: Career Awareness (2 units)

Undecided about your college major? This course will guide you in selecting a college major leading to a career path. Topics will include career assessments, career exploration, resume building, and interview prep.

COUN-47: Learning Strategies (2 units)

Learn how to establish effective study habits with this course. Topics will include the psychology of learning, identifying learning styles, goal setting, concentration, active listening, note taking, memory techniques, test taking, vocabulary building, budgeting resources, and how to most effectively use a textbook.

COUN-281: Life Strategies for Success (1 unit)

*Available as a tuition-free noncredit option, titled COUN-381

Learn skills that will assist you in developing and implementing a personal plan for achieving your life goals.

COUN-282: Practical Money Skills (1 unit)

*Available as a tuition-free noncredit option, titled COUN-382

Learn about checking and saving accounts, benefits of budgeting and financial planning, benefits and disadvantages of using credit, and protecting yourself from identity theft.

COUN-283: Parenting Strategies and Family Relationships (1 unit)

*Available as a tuition-free noncredit option, titled COUN-383

Learn about strategies for effective parenting, communication techniques, stress and anger management, domestic violence resolution, and personal boundary maintenance.
