The 2025 RC Tiger Pageant: Community Celebration of Student Talent
The 6th Annual RC Tiger Pageant was a resounding success! Held on April 11 in the new McClarty Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, the event showcased the talents of 16 student performers in a dynamic, college-wide talent show. The audience enjoyed a vibrant mix of spoken word, poetry, singing, beatboxing, visual art, photography, and concluded with a live DJ set. The Friday night showcase was the grand finale of a semester-long series of activities. In the lead-up to the pageant, contestants participated in a panel interview with judges and attended a Congeniality Dinner to foster camaraderie. Following tradition, contestants voted by secret ballot for “Most Congenial,” which was revealed during the awards presentation. This year’s title went to Liberal Studies major Catricia Alvarez.
Themed “Carnival,” this year’s pageant was sponsored by the RC Safe Space Club. With help from Student Activities staff, the McClarty Center lobby was transformed into a carnival scene, featuring red-and-white striped décor, red carnival flags, and oversized popcorn boxes filled with yellow and white balloons. Special guests brought the carnival atmosphere to life. Jim Mulligan, Tutorial Center Coordinator, delighted the crowd with balloon animal skills while walking on stilts in full clown costume. Hannah Andrews from Institutional Research wowed with a juggling and ribbon flag performance in a flow arts outfit. Community member Liz Vidrio added a sweet touch by both making and serving cotton candy in clown attire.
Guests were invited to vote for “Most Photogenic” before entering the auditorium. The winner, Kimberly Luna, was announced at the start of the awards ceremony.
The evening also featured encore performances by past winners. 2024 Tiger Ryan Hancock performed an original piano piece titled “Gossamer”, while 2024 Runner-up Hannah Kleinkramer sang “Slow Boat to China” while playing her ukulele.
This year’s top honors went to:
RC Tiger Winner: Catricia Alvarez, vocalist – “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston
First Runner-Up: Krystal Moreno, vocalist – “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus
Second Runner-Up: Kimberly Luna – Original spoken word piece, “Female Empowerment”
Third Runner-Up: Aaiden Suddeth, vocalist – “Banana Pancakes” by Jack Johnson
Other standout performances included beatboxing by Angel Bautista, original artwork by Edward Alatorre Reyes and Jesus Ferreyra Ruiz, photography by Eli Felipe, and a crowd-pleasing DJ demo by Marcos Pantoja Garcia.
The new McClarty Center has significantly elevated both student and community engagement with the performing arts. We eagerly anticipate the 2026 RC Tiger Pageant as Reedley College prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
WORDS FROM OUR WINNER:
I am honored to have been a participant in the Tiger Pageant. Each of us had the opportunity to share our passions whether that be through song, photography, beatboxing, and so much more! Whether we take a crown home or not, we each were able to demonstrate bravery through stepping out of our comfort zone. This pageant perfectly illustrates why the McClarty Center was built, to provide the community with entertainment and expand students' horizons. It is definitely a night to remember, along with the journey that came with it!
Thank you
-Catricia Alvarez
