BLACK STUDENT SUCCESS WEEK
Reedley College celebrated Black Student Success Week April 21-24 with a series of events and activities aimed at emphasizing the support and success of Black and African American students. The week was filled with opportunities for students to connect, learn, and advocate for their needs.
- Soul-Cream Social: The week kicked off with a Soul-Cream Social, where students were informed about the upcoming events of the week. They also had the opportunity to socialize and build community.
- #BlackHour Webinar Watch Party: A watch party was held for the #BlackHour webinar, providing students, faculty, and staff with valuable insights and discussions on topics relevant to their success.
- Cookout: A collaborative cookout event brought together all of RC’s affinity groups, fostering solidarity and community among students, faculty, and staff.
- Discussion with Dr. B: Members of the Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA), Equity Committee, and Office of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HIS) met with President Buckley to discuss the needs and support for Black students on campus.
- Table Talk: The week concluded with a Table Talk focused on “Supporting Black students through Advocacy and Allyship,” encouraging meaningful conversations and strategies for effective support.
- Black/African American Student Resource Guide: Additionally, a comprehensive resource guide was released to Black and African-American students with essential information and support services available at Reedley College.
