Ceramics

The Ceramic Program at Reedley College provides a broad range of opportunities for students interested in working with clay. With distinctive courses that focus on the potter’s wheel and courses focusing on hand building techniques, students are offered an opportunity to build specialized skillsets. The ceramics lab offers a complete studio environment for students to engage. Students have access to pottery wheels, gas kilns, electric kilns, full glaze chemical lab, clay recycling and making equipment as well as a full complement of studio tools and equipment. The ceramics studio is open five days a week with open studio time for students on Fridays. Students are encouraged to engage both the academic opportunities presented in the course work as well as explore their personal development in ceramic art.

Additional to the course offerings at Reedley College, the ceramic department has an active visiting artist series that hosts ceramic artists regularly to speak, demonstrate and directly engage students. The artists range from full time Artists, University Ceramic Professors and professionals working in the broader field of visual arts. Students can work one on one with these visiting artists to develop connections to both professional opportunities and academic destinations for furthering their studies in ceramics.
