Womens Golf ChampionsLed by three of the top six golfers, Reedley College has won the 2021 Northern California Community College Athletic Association Women’s Golf Championship.

The Lady Tigers won the championship Monday at the Yolo Fliers Golf Club in Woodland. Reedley finished 28 shots ahead of Big 8 Conference Champion, Modesto.

Taking medalist honors is freshman Avery Foster (Clovis HS) with sparkling rounds of 74-72 (146). Finishing second was sophomore Mya Chao (Golden West HS, Visalia), who fired a 78-83 (161). Also winning all-Nor Cal honors was sophomore Cynthia Reyes (Golden West HS, Visalia) who shot 89-81 (170), good for sixth place.

Other Reedley scores included Avery Cordero (Madera HS) 90-87 (177), Natalie Van Pelt (El Capitan HS, Merced) 90-93 (183) and Michaela Tamez (Clovis East HS) 117-107 (224).

"The kids played great," said Head Coach Scott Stark. "We had three of the top six in the region and two of our best scores of the season. We’re peaking at the right time.”

The state women’s golf championships are scheduled for the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande November 14-15.
