“Our new Math and Sciences building offers students the opportunity to experience medical training using the most modern technology, dental training using the most advanced facilities in the Fresno area, chemistry labs that offer the latest scientific innovations, and a math study center that brings students, faculty and tutors together in a highly collaborative environment,” said Reedley College President Dr. Jerry Buckley. The event was attended by members of the SCCCD Board of Trustees, district officials, political leaders and their representatives, City of Reedley officials, education partners, campus administration, faculty, staff and students. CBS 47, KSEE 24 and ABC 30 provided media coverage, and tours of the building were given at the conclusion of the program.

“The new, expanded Math Tutorial Center is beautiful and shows Reedley College’s commitment to student access and success,” said Math Center Coordinator Becky Reimer, who also spoke during the program. “When our students succeed in their math classes and complete STEM degrees, we will transform Reedley and the valley.” The other guest speakers were Interim District Chancellor Dr. Douglas Houston, Dr. Buckley, Congressman Jim Costa, Bob Petithomme of Darden Architects, Matt Seals of Seals Construction, and City of Reedley Mayor Mary Fast, who is also an alumna of Reedley College. Board Trustee Magdalena Gomez was the Master of Ceremonies.

The new building is 28 thousand square feet complete with five lab classrooms, two lecture classrooms and the Math Tutorial Center. Four programs will utilize the facility: Math, Chemistry, Dental Assisting, and Nursing Assistant Training. The cost to build it was $27 million dollars using Measure ‘C’ funds.
