Why Accounting?

Accounting is the language of business and foundation for success in the business world that opens many doors to the students.  When the students are looking for a lucrative, but challenging profession in business, the accounting is a good place to start.  Accounting affects virtually every business field, including small to large businesses, government agencies, nonprofits and educational institutions.  Our Accounting program can help students prepare for careers in any of industries mentioned above. According to the Bureau of Labor Statics, (https://www.bls.gov/ooh/business-and-financial/accountants-and-auditors.htm#tab-6)  the employment in accounting and audit is projected to grow 10 % from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Globalization, a growing economy, and a complex tax and regulatory environment are expected to continue to lead to strong demand for accountants and auditors. Also, per the same source at https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes132011.htm#nat, the mean annual salary for accounting and audit professionals in May 2018 was $78,820, while the national median salary was $51,960.
