Teacher Education

Why Study Teacher Education at Reedley College

The Elementary Teacher Education Degree prepares students for transfer into a baccalaureate level degree at any of the California State University campuses. The Elementary Teacher Education program prepares students for jobs teaching in Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten through eighth grades in the public and private education system.

The new Teacher Education Certificate prepares students for transfer to into a baccalaureate level degree single subject or liberal studies program at any of the CSU campuses.  This degree adds the coursework requirements to meet the requirements of a special needs para-professional, and, in addition to a General Education or Liberal Studies degree, satisfies the requirements of the No Child Left Behind requirements for employment in school districts.  This certificate provides students with an education component to prepare them for teaching an upper division degree completion program.

The California Single Subject Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach the specific subject(s) named on the credential in departmentalized classes, such as those in most middle schools and high schools, in grades preschool, K–12 or in classes organized primarily for adults.
