ENGR 9

Overview of program

The engineering program at Reedley College is designed to prepare a student to transfer in any field of engineering to a four-year university of his/her choosing.  Students can complete their lower division coursework in engineering, math, computer science, physics, chemistry, and other subjects.

Activities!
Engineering students at Reedley College take part in many fun and enriching activities.  These activities challenge students to apply the principles and skills that they learn in the classroom.

The Trebuchet Project
Students from the engineering, physics, and art programs worked together to design and build a trebuchet during the 2007-2008 school year.  The trebuchet throws objects up to 200 feet!

ENGR 2                            ENGR 1

LEGO robotics

Students in the introductory engineering class (ENGR 10) learn about engineering concepts by designing and programming robotic machines.  The students must determine how to build the machine and how the robot should use its sensors and motors to accomplish each task.

ENGR 3

Bridge building competitions

Students in ENGR 8 – Statics learn about forces and trusses and then test out their knowledge by designing and testing wooden bridges!

ENGR 4

Fresno State Engineering Competitions

Each year, students in ENGR 10 compete with students from Fresno State, Fresno City College, the Willow-International Center, and the College of the Sequoias is an engineering design competition.

ENGR 5                                       ENGR 6

The “Roo” project

During the 2005-2006 school year, students designed and built a wheelchair for a dog that was born without any front legs.

ENGR 7                                  ENGR 8

Typical Course Schedule

A typical course schedule is shown below.  The courses shown are the “core” courses that are common for many engineering majors.  A student should seek the advice of a counselor or look on www.assist.org to determine the exact courses required for transfer to a specific institution.

 CHEM 1A

Notes:
1.    Many of these courses are offered Fall or Spring only
2.     Many of these courses must be taken in order due to pre/co-requisites
3.     Most engineering programs at UC campuses in addition require CHEM 1B (offered Spring only)
4.     Add CSCI 41 (Spring only) for Computer Engineering majors.
