Plant Science Program

The Plant and Soil Science program offers a wide variety of courses that lead to an Associates of Science Degree or Certification. Students enrolled in a plant and soil science course will have an opportunity to engage in numerous industry experiences; this includes field trips to local packing facilities and hearing from guest speakers throughout the school year. The Plant and Soil Science program also provides job opportunities during the school year and the summer. Students in the Program have an opportunity to run and operate equipment on our working farm. Recently we have implemented our new Open Gable system. The Open Gable System was implemented through a Sun Maid Cooperative venture and is about 5 acres which will grow the Selma Pete variety of grape.

We have production lots on our school farm including:

  • 17 Acres of Thompson Seedless Grapes
  • 30 Acres of forage which grow Oat Hay, Sudan Hay and Winter Forage
  • 1/4 Acre Olive Orchard
  • Bee Keeping Facilities
  • 150 Acres of Cooperative Lease Relationships with local industry leaders
