English as a Second Language (ESL)

The first step to reaching your goals is to develop good English-language skills. Through the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Reedley College, you can develop reading, writing, and oral skills in English. The ESL program enables you to make progress in college and at work. Reedley College ESL students learn to speak, read, and write in English at a proficient level.

The ESL program offers:

  • learning & communication strategies
  • optional courses to improve oral skills
  • computer assisted language learning

Whatever your interest, a better understanding of English will help you to reach your vocational, academic, and personal goals. Reedley College offers much more than a basic education. You will begin in an ESL class appropriate for your level, and while you’re improving your English, you may be able to enroll in other courses that meet your educational interests and goals.

Credit and Noncredit Courses

ESL students can enroll in either credit or non-credit classes. Credit and non-credit students at the same level learn English together in a challenging college environment.

Credit or noncredit? Which is right for you?

The ESL credit program is designed for students who want to:
  • complete a certificate or degree
  • transfer to another college or university
  • obtain official transcripts of grades
  • Students who register for noncredit ESL typically want to:
    • improve English language skills for their jobs
    • experience what credit ESL classes are like
    • participate in a low cost, low risk option
    • earn ESL certificates (below)

  • transferirse a otro colegio o universidad
